Here is a list of books that can, if you let them, profoundly change the way you think about yourself and the world.
Everything about you can be changed.
It may take an inordinate amount of effort to change some parts of you, but don’t equate effort with impossible.
You do have a choice the way your life goes. Read these books to get started.
The War of Art by Steven Pressfield
Please don’t be turned off by the word “art.” This is for anyone trying to get better at their craft, including aviation.
Turning Pro by Steven Pressfield
The sequel to the previous book. It’s just as important as the first. You don’t have to be a professional pilot to act like a professional pilot.
Do the Work by Steven Pressfield
It takes work. Check out more of Steven Pressfield on his website.

You can choose to harness that power for good or let it lead you down the road to mediocrity.
The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson
The sister book to Hardy’s book is also worth the read.
The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg
If you decide, after reading the two books above, you want to start changing your habits, then pick up this book.
The One Thing by Gary Keller
Can’t say “no” and as a result you are at the office for 40-60 hours a week?
You need this book.
Willpower by Roy F. Baumeister
Ever wonder why you dive into the freezer at 10pm for ice cream? Read this book.
Don’t kid yourself. There is no such thing as an overnight success. Read this book to find out why and what is required.

“Mastery is not a function of genius or talent. It is a function of time and intense focus applied to a particular field of knowledge.”
Even if you only implement half of this, you will see a marked improvement in your productivity. He also has a website.
How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie
This book was a game changer for me. I wish it was required reading at West Point, or any college for that matter.
